Intermediate players wrongly think trades avoid losses. Here my opponent sacrifices the e-pawn to swap queens. It should give me a great game, but I do need to play well!

I want to swap, but my idea is premature. A better strategy would be 9...Bf5 10.0–0–0+ Kc7 and Black should be okay.

At this point I realized to my dismay that I might be in some trouble if my opponent played 11.Nxd5 cxd5 12.Rxd5+ Ke8 13.Bb5+ and White stands better. My opponent misses it.
